The 18th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump of 2018 announced on Monday that Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter will take a short break. Togashi apologized for the hiatus announcement and promised that his series will return as soon as possible.
The manga resumed serialization in January 2018 following a hiatus that began last September. Shueisha shipped the 35th compiled volume on February 2, which sold 477,485 units and placed first in the Oricon weekly rankings.
The manga was adapted into two TV anime series: initially in 1999 by Nippon Animation and then a 2011 version by Madhouse. The studios also produced theatrical adaptations and several OVAs.
North American publisher Viz Media licensed both the anime and manga series and shipped the 34th manga volume on March 6 and the third Blu-ray set last October.
