The Young Jump and Ultra Jump joint booth at Jump Festa 2020 revealed two additional cast and the first promotional video for the second season of Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) television anime on Sunday. The new season, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai? Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen, will premiere in April 2020. The first season will have a rerun on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV beginning on January 9 at 12:30 a.m.
Voice actresses Miyu Tomita (Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai, Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san) and Rina Hidaka (Ryuuou no Oshigoto!, Inu x Boku SS) will play the new characters Miko Iino and Kobachi Osaragi—members of the public moral committee—respectively.
Production staff returning at A-1 Pictures include director Shinichi Omata (Mamoru Hatakeyama), series composer Yasuhiro Nakanishi, character designer Yuuko Yahiro, and music composer Kei Haneoka. The four main voice cast will also reprise their character roles.
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai adapts Aka Akasaka's romantic comedy manga, which debuted in Miracle Jump in May 2015 and subsequently switched to Young Jump the following March. Shueisha shipped the 16th volume on September 19. The manga has a cumulative 8.5 million copies of its volumes in print.
The 12-episode first anime season produced by A-1 Pictures aired in Winter 2019, roughly adapting the first five volumes. Aniplex of America licensed the anime and streamed it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in February 2018 and released the 11th volume on November 5. The 12th volume will go on sale on January 7, 2020.
