24th Detective Conan Movie 'The Scarlet Bullet' Premieres in April 2020

The official movie website of Detective Conan (Case Closed) revealed on Wednesday that the 24th movie, The Scarlet Bullet (Hiiro no Dangan), will premiere in Japanese theaters on April 17, 2020. A new teaser visual (pictured below) drawn by the original manga creator Gosho Aoyama was unveiled the same day. TOHO also posted a 30-second promotional video on Friday.

Synopsis
Once every four years, Tokyo hosts the world's largest sports festival: World Sports Games. During this year's games, a major incident occurred when famous tournament sponsors were kidnapped. FBI agent Shuuichi Akai is joined by his younger brother Shuukichi Haneda, younger sister and self-proclaimed detective Masumi Sera, and their mysterious mother Mary. Alongside the Akai family, Conan attempts to unravel the mystery of the kidnapped sponsors.

Minami Takayama, Wakana Yamazaki, Rikiya Koyama, and Shuuichi Ikeda will reprise their character roles. Chika Nagaoka (Detective Conan Movie 23: The Fist of Blue Sapphire) is directing the film at TMS Entertainment, and Takeharu Sakurai (Detective Conan Movie 22: Zero the Enforcer) is returning to write the screenplay.

The 23rd film, subtitled The Fist of Blue Sapphire (Konjou no Fist), opened on April 12 this year and earned over 1.8 billion yen (approximately US$16.12 million) during its first weekend.

Aoyama began drawing the Detective Conan mystery manga series in 1994. Shogakukan printed the manga's 96th volume on April 10. The television anime produced by TMS Entertainment has been airing since 1996 and now has over 900 episodes, 11 OVAs, and seven crossovers with others franchises.
