New 'Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya' Anime Film Announced


A new anime film based on Hiroshi Hiroyama's Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya manga series was announced by animation production company Kadokawa on Tuesday. The company also opened an official page for the film, revealing a commemorative visual drawn by Hiroyama (pictured right) and an announcement promo.

The first installment in the alternative setting spin-off ran in Comp Ace from September 2007–November 2008. The second manga ran in the same magazine between April 2009 and March 2012. Hiroyama launched the third and latest installment—Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei!!—in May that year. Kadokawa will publish the 11th volume on May 26.

Silver Link. adapted the manga into four television anime in four consecutive Summer seasons from 2013 to 2016. Crunchyroll simulcast each season as they aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks distributed the first three seasons on home video in North America in September 2014, February 2016, January 2017, respectively.

The Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya Movie: Sekka no Chikai (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Vow in the Snow) prequel anime film opened in Japan in August 2017, grossing over 270 million yen (approximately US$2.5 million). A theatrical original video anime subtitled Prisma☆Phantasm premiered on June 14 last year. Sentai Filmworks plans to release both anime installments on home video on July 14.
