The first episode will have its world premiere at the Anime Expo convention on July 6. The original creator Sayori and director Yamamoto will attend the Nekopara panel for a talk show. Neko Works is also developing a new game in the franchise titled Nekopara Vol. 4: Neko to Patisserie no Noel.

The first Nekopara game launched in December 2014, which was followed by four more games, including sequels and prequels. Sekai Project published the games in English on the Steam platform simultaneously with the Japanese release. The visual novel series has sold over 2.6 million copies.

Sekai Project launched a Kickstarter campaign for an original video animation based on Nekopara in December 2016 and met its initial goal of US$100,000 for a 20-minute episode within an hour. The company promptly announced that an extra 10 minutes will be added to the episode for every additional US$100,000 to a maximum duration of an hour for US$500,000. The campaign ended in February 2017 with over US$900,000, but was extended to reach the final stretch goal of US$1 million for a short anime adaptation of the Nekopara Extra prequel visual novel. Sekai Project formally concluded the campaign after it exceeded US$1.04 million in March 2017.

The one-hour original video animation debuted on the Steam platform last December and was screened at the Akihabara UDX theater last January. The short anime adaptation of the prequel was released alongside the visual novel in July 2018.

A manga adaptation by Tam-U was serialized in Dengeki G's Comic magazine between May 30 and November 30 last year. Kadokawa published the single volume on January 10.
