The January 2020 issue of Monthly Shounen Magazine revealed the main cast, staff, and a teaser visual for the Kakushigoto television anime on Friday. The anime series adapting Kouji Kumeta's slice of life comedy manga will debut in April 2020. Avex Pictures also posted a 30-second teaser promotional video.

Hiroshi Kamiya (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Noragami) is reprising his role as the father Kakushi Gotou from the 2016 promotional video produced by Shaft. Voice actress Rie Takahashi (Fate/Grand Order: First Order, Yuru Camp△) will play the daughter Hime Gotou.
Kumeta published a full-color four-page prototype of the manga in Monthly Shounen Magazine in November 2015, three years after concluding Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei). Kakushigoto began regular serialization in the magazine's January 2016 issue the following month. Kodansha shipped the tenth volume on November 15.
