Winners of 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Announced

The winners of the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize have been announced. Ten nominees were chosen from volumes published last year with votes and recommendations from bookstore staff, manga officials, and a selection committee with last year's Special Prize recipient Osamu Akimoto (Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo) as a newly appointed member. The presentation ceremony will be held on June 7 at Hamarikyuu Asahi Small Hall at Tsukiji, Tokyo.

Grand Prize: Golden Kamuy (Satoru Noda)
New Work Prize: Beastars (Paru Itagaki)
Short Work Prize: Oya-san to Boku (Tarou Yabe)
Special Prize: Tetsuya Chiba (For the publication of Hinemosu no Tari Nikki, a full-color short story manga that was published in Shogakukan's Big Comics and his first work in 18 years)

Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's Yakusoku no Neverland tied with Golden Kamuy for first place on the first selection through points but was beat by recommendations.

Instituted in 1997, Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize is an annual manga prize awarded to mangaka or their works that follow the Osamu Tezuka manga approach.
