The official website for the Given manga announced on Wednesday that the special edition version of the seventh volume will bundle an original video animation (OVA). Preorders for the special edition volume are open on the official website until August 29, and it will be released on December 1.
The OVA, subtitled Uragawa no Sonzai, will tell an "other side" story centered on Mafuyu Satou and Ritsuka Uenoyama that wasn't featured in the Given movie. Shougo Yano (Mafuyu) and Yuuma Uchida (Ritsuka) are reprising their roles from the television anime and movie, as are Masatomo Nakazawa and Takuya Eguchi as Haruki Nakayama and Akihiko Kaji, respectively.
Akiyo Oohashi (Umibe no Étranger) is replacing Hikaru Yamaguchi (Given, Given Movie) at Lerche. Yuniko Ayana (Hori-san to Miyamura-kun) returns to handle the series composition.
A live-action television adaptation was revealed alongside the OVA announcement. The six-episode series will be released on FOD (Fuji TV on Demand) on July 17.
Natsuki Kizu began serializing the BL manga in Cheri+ in April 2013. Shinshokan published the sixth compiled volume in August 2020. Viz Media licensed the manga under its SuBLime imprint in August 2019 and published the first English volume in February 2020. The fifth volume was released this February.
Lerche produced the television anime adaptation that aired on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block during the Summer 2019 season. The studio's film adaptation was released in theaters in Japan last August.
