Third 'Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.' Anime Season Airs in Spring 2020


The Oregairu Fes 2019 event announced on Sunday that the third anime season for Wataru Watari's Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. (My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected) light novel series will premiere in April 2020. The official website also revealed a key visual (pictured) and a teaser promotional video.

Kei Oikawa (Hinamatsuri) is returning to direct the third season, subtitled Kan (The End), at animation studio feel. Keiichirou Ohchi (5-toubun no Hanayome) is handling the series composition, replacing Shoutarou Suga from the previous two seasons. Yuuichi Tanaka (Toaru Majutsu no Index) is returning as the character designer from the second season.

Cast members Takuya Eguchi, Saori Hayami, Nao Touyama, Ayane Sakura, and Aoi Yuuki are reprising as Hachiman Hikigaya, Yukino Yukinoshita, Yui Yuigahama, Iroha Isshiki, and Komachi Hikigaya, respectively.

Watari launched the romantic comedy series, also known by its short name Oregairu, in 2011 with illustrations by Ponkan 8. The light novel began its final chapter with the 12th volume in September 2017. Publishing label Gagaga Bunko will ship the 14th and final volume on November 19, following two previous delays. Oregairu has a cumulative 9 million copies of its volumes in circulation worldwide.

The first two television anime seasons aired in 2013 and 2015. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and shipped the first season on DVD and Blu-ray in July 2014 and September 2015, respectively. The second season was released on home video in October 2016.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in 2015 under the title My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected. The seventh volume went on sale on November 5.
