FUNA began penning the comedy fantasy novel, also known by its short name Noukin, on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in January 2016, garnering over 260 million views. Earth Star Entertainment has been publishing the series with illustrations by Itsuki Akata (Dragon Crisis!) since May 2016. The 11th volume went on sale on July 16. Noukin has a cumulative 550,000 copies of its volumes in print.

Nekomint launched a manga adaptation on the Comic Earth☆Star website in August 2016. Taibundo published the third compiled volume last June.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novel and manga in English in September 2017. The seventh light novel volume was published digitally on July 11 and has a planned November 5 physical release. The third manga volume shipped on May 21.
