The wraparound band on the tenth volume of Kouji Kumeta's Kakushigoto manga revealed a television anime adaptation for the series on Friday, scheduled for a 2020 debut. The January 2020 issue of Monthly Shounen Magazine will reveal details regarding the anime series on December 6.
Synopsis
"We will open the curtain back in time, to the story of one lone manga creator."
This story is about Gotou Kakushi, an artist who draws a somewhat vulgar manga, and tries to hide it for the sake of his daughter, Hime. A father-daughter tale of love and laughter. (Source: MU, edited)
Prior to serialization, Kumeta published a full-color four-page preview of the manga in Monthly Shounen Magazine in November 2015, three years after ending Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei). The slice of life comedy series began regular serialization in the magazine's January 2016 issue the following month. Kodansha shipped the ninth volume on September 17.
Commemorating the manga's first volume release, animation studio Shaft produced a promotional video in June 2016. Yukihiro Miyamoto (Maria†Holic) directed the promo, while Akiyuki Shinbou, director of the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei anime series, drew the storyboards.
Voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya (Durarara!!, Noragami) played the father Kakushi Gotou, with Chika Anzai (Hibike! Euphonium, Grand Blue) voicing the daughter Hime Gotou.
