Manga Author Youko Maki Retires

Youko Maki announced on her Instagram page on Wednesday that she has officially retired as a mangaka after working as one for two decades. The final chapter of her latest manga, Kirameki no Lion Boy, was also published in the August issue of Ribon Magazine on July 3.

Youko Maki published her debut work in 1999, titled Love Service!. The short story was serialized in the April issue of Ribon Original magazine and was later included in the compilation manga Kareki ni Koi wo Sakasemasu, which also features three of her other earlier works.

Maki has since published several other works, including Aishiteruze Baby★★, serialized in Ribon Magazine from March 2002 to December 2004, and Yamamoto Zenjirou to Moushimasu, which was serialized in Ribon Mascot between February 2007 and August 2011.

A TV anime adaptation of Aishiteruze Baby★★ was produced by TMS Entertainment in Spring 2004. Her other work, Romantica Clock, was also adapted into a three-episode special in 2014.
