The official website for the Ex-Arm TV anime revealed the main staff on Monday. A new premiere was also announced; the project was previously delayed on May 28 due to the coronavirus pandemic, shifting the intended July premiere to an unspecified date in Fall 2020. It is now scheduled to premiere in January 2021 and will stream worldwide (excluding Asia) on Crunchyroll.
The adaptation of Shinya Komi and HiRock's Ex-Arm manga will feature Yoshikatsu Kimura (KG Karate Girl live-action film) directing at studio Visual Flight. Kimura has primarily worked on live-action films and television series as a director and screenwriter in the past. Tommy Morton is credited with series composition, and Hajime Kimura (F-Zero X video game OST) will compose the music.
Souma Saitou (Zankyou no Terror), Mikako Komatsu (Houseki no Kuni (TV)), and Akari Kitou (Kimetsu no Yaiba) were previously cast as Akira Natsume, Minami Uezono, and Alma, respectively.
Komi and HiRock serialized their manga in Grand Jump from February 2015 until November 2017. The series transitioned to the online manga platform Shounen Jump+ in December 2017, where it concluded with its 98th chapter in June 2019. The 14th and final compiled volume was published in August of the same year.
