The official website of the Adachi to Shimamura (Adachi and Shimamura) television anime revealed staff, additional cast members, a teaser visual (pictured), and the first promotional video on Friday. The anime series adapting Hitoma Iruma's yuri light novel will air on TBS in 2020.

Iruma began writing the series in Dengeki Bunko Magazine in October 2012, 1.5 years after concluding his Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl) light novel. Dengeki Bunko began publishing the novel with artworks by Nozomi Ousaka (Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!) in March 2013. The eighth volume went on sale on May 10.
Square Enix's Gangan Online magazine serialized a three-volume manga adaptation by Mani from 2016–2017. Illustrator Moke Yuzuhara began drawing a new manga adaptation in Dengeki Daioh's July 2019 issue on May 27. Kadokawa published the first volume on November 27.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel in English on September 18 and plans to ship the first volume on June 2, 2020.
