During the 22/7 Birthday Event 2019 on Tuesday, an extra 13th episode for the anime series was announced. The episode will feature three new characters. Aniplex also revealed a promotional video. The television anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11 at 11:00 p.m. on January 11, 2020, followed by ABC TV, Metele, and CS Nippon. AbemaTV will begin streaming the show the following day.
The event also announced that Uta Kawase will succeed Mei Hanakawa as the role of Nicole Saitou. Hanakawa announced in October that she is going on an extended hiatus due to health reasons. In a follow up report earlier this month, the idol group announced that Hanakawa will leave 22/7 by the end of 2019.
Takao Abo (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) is directing the anime at A-1 Pictures, with Chiaki Nagai (Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Maji Love Legend Star script) and Reiji Miyajima (AKB49: Renai Kinshi Jourei, Kanojo, Okarishimasu manga author) in charge of series composition. Majiro (Barakamon) is designing the characters.
