Talent management company Artsvision announced on Monday that seiyuu Yuuichirou Umehara has been released from the hospital. The agency further stated that Umehara will slowly return to voice acting while taking his health condition into consideration.
Umehara was hospitalized in May due to being diagnosed with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), but also had a case of intracranial hypotension while receiving treatment, resulting in a longer hiatus. After medical treatment and rehabilitation, he was discharged from the hospital without any after-effect worries.
During his hiatus, Umehara was replaced in a number of works, including Juushinki Pandora by Tomoaki Maeno, Caligula's last three episodes by Izuru Minezawa, Darling in the FranXX's last two episodes by Daiki Hamano as Goro, and Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai's last four episodes by Tomokazu Sugita as Hajime Sugimoto. Umehara still has a role in the currently airing Captain Tsubasa (2018) as Ken Wakashimazu.
Umehara made his major voice acting debut in Orenchi no Furo Jijou as the character Wakasa in 2014. He has since voiced in anime series such as Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE! as En Yufuin, The iDOLM@STER SideM as Kyouji Takajou, Tsukipro The Animation as Dai Murase, and Young Black Jack's Kuroo Hazama.
