Following the June 20 broadcast of the final episode of 3D Kanojo: Real Girl, producers of the anime announced that a second season of the series will air from January 2019. The sequel will also air on NTV's AnichU programming block like the first season.
The anime is an adaptation of the Real Girl school romance manga drawn by Mao Nanami, which was serialized in Kodansha's Dessert magazine between 2011 and 2016. A total of 12 compiled volumes were published for the series, and a cumulative 1.3 million copies of those volumes were in circulation as of May 2018. Kodansha Comics USA completed digital releases of the manga in English in January.
The first Blu-ray and DVD volume of 3D Kanojo: Real Girl went on sale in Japan on June 27, though neither format ranked in Oricon's weekly sales chart. Sentai Filmworks licensed the first season of the anime for English-language release in North America. The series is currently available for streaming on the HIDIVE platform.
