Production of 'Ensemble Stars!' Anime Project Restarts

The February broadcast of Monthly Ensemble Studio stream via Niconico Live has announced on Tuesday that the production of Happy Elements' planned anime adaptation of Ensemble Stars! smartphone game will restart with a new production system and committee. The original scenario writer of the game, Akira (Sasami-san@Ganbaranai), will be in charge of the anime's series composition.

Happy Elements announced the anime adaptation in 2015 as a part of the franchise's mix-media project. Originally planned for a 2017 release, Genco and Happy Elements postponed the anime adaptation earlier last year, citing "various circumstances" as the reason.

The smartphone game has been adapted into two manga, novel, CDs, and stage play adaptations. The game has been localized in China with 13 collected groups. Kodansha published four volumes for the first manga between 2015 and 2016, while Girl's Style Online currently serializes the second manga series since July of last year. A novel penned by Akira has also been published since November 2015 with four stages covered. Additionally, multiple CDs were released as of February 21, including three unit song CD series.
