The September 2018 issue of Shogakukan's monthly Sunday Gene-X revealed on Saturday that Rei Hiroe's Black Lagoon manga will enter hiatus, a move that was made to allow Hiroe to concentrate on working on a compiled book volume. The magazine did not specify when the series will resume.
In 2010, Black Lagoon entered hiatus and Hiroe released a total of two chapters in 2013 and 2014. It had then resumed regularly in May 2017.
The manga began its serialization in Sunday Gene-X in 2002. Shogakukan will print volume 11 of the manga in November and will also release a limited edition alongside. Volume 10 was released in May 2014, which was released by Viz Media in North America in April 2015.
The anime adaptation was broadcast in Spring 2006, and was followed by a second season in Fall 2006, both produced by Madhouse. The company also made the Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail OVA that was released between 2010 and 2011. Funimation released the anime series on a Blu-ray & DVD combo in December 2012 and released the OVA collection in August 2013.
