Anime 'Mystery of Kumamon' Announced


Kumamoto Prefecture Governor Ikuo Kabashima announced last Sunday that the mascot character Kumamon will be getting an anime adaptation. Produced by Tonko House, a studio established by Daisuke Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo from Pixar, the anime is planned to be completed next year, and it aims to premiere worldwide via Nexflix. The poster revealed has the phrase "what is happiness," and does not clearly mentioned if the anime will be a movie or series.

Kumamon is a mascot character representing Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. It is also popular outside Japan, such as China, Taiwan, and the US. Kumamon has also been featured in various games and won the YuruChara Grand Prix in 2011. Kumamon was appointed as the France Tourism Goodwill Ambassador, along with Rika-chan.
