Netflix Japan announced on Friday that musical comedy anime Aggressive Retsuko (Aggretsuko) will get a second season. The new season will stream worldwide on Netflix in 2019.
The franchise's first anime aired on TBS' Ousama no Brunch program between April 2016 and March 2018 for a total of 100 one-minute episodes. Netflix released a ten-episode series worldwide on April 20. Both Aggressive Retsuko anime series were directed by Rareko at studio Fanworks.
Retsuko's character was created for Sanrio by designer Yeti. In an interview with CNN, Yeti stated Retsuko's character was meant to evoke empathy in working people or those who have pent up frustrations.
