Actor Ren Oosugi Dies


NHK has reported that actor Ren Oosugi suddenly died early morning on Wednesday from acute cardiac insufficiency. He was 66 years old. According to the agency Zacco, the funeral will be held among family and friends.

Born Takashi Oosugi, he was primarily active as an actor since the 1980s and won various awards for his supportive roles. He was featured in the third live-action movie of the Yamikin Ushijima-kun manga, the live-action adaptation of Shin Godzilla, and a live-action drama related to the popular game series Final Fantasy XIV, to name a few. In addition to being an actor, he also voiced Agashi from Giniro no Kami no Agito and Mitsumasa Kido from Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary.

His final blog entry was made on February 18 where he showed that he was happily working without any signs of physical illnesses, except for the night before his death.
