In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena) anime series, the September 2017 issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Flowers magazine, which goes on sale on July 28, is publishing a new manga chapter by artist Chiho Saitou.
The new chapter titled Shoujo Kakumei Utena: After The Revolution is set at Ootori Academy after time has passed since the events of the original series. The magazine's current issue also includes an interview with Saitou and Utena anime director Kunihiko Ikuhara discussing behind-the-scenes stories of the anime production.
A second, unrelated new manga chapter of Shoujo Kakumei Utena will also be published in Monthly Flowers in the winter. Saitou, who is celebrating the 35th anniversary of her mangaka debut this year, will exhibit her drawings at the Sanseido book store in Ikebukuro between August 13 and 20. Monthly Flowers is currently serializing her latest work Torikae Baya.
