A stage event at AnimeJapan 2017 has announced additional cast members for the new Mahoujin Guru Guru anime. Titled Mahoujin Guru Guru: Magical Circle, the series will be produced by Production I.G, and air in Summer 2017.

Mahoujin Guru Guru is drawn by Hiroyuki Etou and was serialized in Shounen Gangan magazine between July 1992 and August 2003 with 16 compiled volumes. A sequel of the original series began publishing in Gangan Online in November 2012. The seventh compiled volume will be released on January 21.
The original manga was adapted into a 45-episode TV anime by Nippon Animation, which aired between October 1994 and September 1995. A side-story also premiered in April 1996. It also received a 38-episode TV anime sequel in Spring 2000. The new anime series is a remake of the original series and will reanimate it from the beginning.
