New 'Baki' Anime Project Announced


The 32nd issue of Shounen Champion magazine, to be released on July 7, is announcing that Keisuke Itagaki's martial arts manga Baki has received an anime project. An OVA will be bundled in volume 14 of Baki-Dou, which is slated for release on December 6, 2016. More information about the anime project will be announced at a later date.

The Baki series is drawn by Keisuke Itagaki, and the first title in the series, Grappler Baki, received its serialization in Shounen Champion magazine in 1991. The series was serialized until 1998, releasing a total of 42 volumes, with its story continuing in its sequel, Baki: New Grappler Baki, which was serialized in the same magazine the following year. The series has since received two sequels, Hanma Baki and Baki-Dou, with the latter being published in the same magazine as its prequels since 2014. In addition to the sequels, the series has received various anime adaptations, manga spin-offs, as well as video games.
