
28-minute anime part of the stage adaptation of Mitsuami no Kamisama received Platinum Remi award on 49th Annual WorldFest Houston for Classic Cel Animation. It was the directorial debut of Yoshimi Itazu, who also did the storyboard, character design, and illustration direct. While Miho Maruo wrote the script, the animation studio was Production I.G. Kana Hanazawa, Junichi Suwabe, and Yuusuke Kobayashi were involved in reading. The BD and DVD of the play (shown) were released on March 16, 2016, and include this short anime.
Mitsuami no Kamisama was written by Machiko Kyou on Jump X from August 25, 2011 to May 10, 2013, and previously received the Osamu Tezuka New Artist Prize in 2014. The manga follows the life of a pigtailed girl who lives alone in her Touhoku home after the March 11 earthquake.
