Manga 'Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo' Gets New TV Anime Project [Update 6/19]

According to the 29th issue of Weekly Shounen Jump magazine of 2016, which will go on sale on June 20, the manga Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo (abbreviated as Kochikame) will be receiving a new TV anime adaptation. The announcement comes with the 40th anniversary of the series, and a new key visual was revealed in that issue of the magazine.

Synopsis
The typical Kochikame plot involves Ryo-san coming up with a money-making scheme by inventing a new gadget or capitalizing on a fad, achieving great success, calling on Nakagawa's help as things turn sour, and finally losing it all as the fad runs out of steam or out of control. While the plots are gag-driven, much of the humor comes from the juxtaposition of mundane characters with the bizarrely incongruous (Nakagawa's wealth, Maria's appeal, everyone's lack of actual police work), most of which is never explained or rationalized in the slightest. The series is drawn by Osamu Akimoto and has been publishing since 1976 with 199 volumes in print. It previously received a TV anime adaptation that aired between 1996 and 2004 for a total of 373 episodes.
