Girls und Panzer der Film' Sells 1 Million Admission Tickets


The official blog of the Girls und Panzer anime series announced on Tuesday that the movie Girls und Panzer der Film, which opened in theaters in Japan on November 21, has surpassed 1 million admission tickets sold.

As of April 4, Girls und Panzer der Film has earned ¥1,805,276,384 in the Japanese box office with 1,096,617 admission tickets sold. It is currently the fourth highest-grossing movie based on a late night anime series, behind Love Live! The School Idol Movie (2015), Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari (2013), and K-On! Movie (2011).

While standard screenings of Girls und Panzer der Film have mostly ended, the movie began 4DX screenings on February 20 and has since seen reinvigorated box office sales. The official website currently lists 33 theaters screening the movie in 4DX format, with three additional theaters scheduled to begin screenings later this month.

Girls und Panzer der Film will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 27. It will also be available for digital purchase on Amazon Video, Tsutaya TV, PlayStation Video, Hikari TV, Bonobo, and Rakuten Showtime.
