Girls und Panzer der Film' Crosses 2 Billion Yen Earnings Milestone


Producers of Girls und Panzer der Film announced on Monday that box office earnings for the movie, which opened in theaters in Japan last November, has crossed the 2 billion yen milestone. The movie leaped to ninth place in this week's box office charts after placing 28th last week.

Girls und Panzer der Film has been screening for 27 weeks and has sold 1,207,473 admission tickets as of May 22 for a total gross earnings of ¥2,021,490,984. It is currently the third highest-grossing movie based on a late night anime series and trails the earnings of Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari by approximately 60 million yen.

The sequel of the 2012 Girls und Panzer series will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 27. In order to commemorate the release, LINE LIVE will stream a special program featuring the movie's production staff on May 26 at 8:00 p.m. Japan time.
